When is the rainy season?

Generally the trade winds are blowing in the late fall and winter months (late November to May) bringing more day time rain and cloudy sky.

When is the best diving?

Welll - it depends a lot on what you like.

The summer months (June through October) tend to have less wind which often means calmer water and light currents. The diving is wonderful and easy. We can often dive anywhere around the island.

The winter months (late November to May) are often more stormy and diving may be limited to the South and West sides of the island. (This isn't a handicap, since some of the most spectacular dive sites are on the South and West sides). The wind may bring faster currents, which may also bring larger, pelagic fish into the reef.

What are the best dive sites? That's where I want to go!

We've got incredible, world class sites all around the island. The "best" sites vary depending on the current conditions and generally we decide on which sites will be the best that day when we are out on the water.

Do you teach SCUBA classes?

Absolutely! We teach everything from experiential classes (you get to try diving, but don't receive a certification card) to Assistant Instructor. We also do referral classes so that you can start your training at home and finish in our warm, tropical water.

I don't dive, what else can I do?

Tons of stuff! Climbing, hiking, exploring in the mangrove, kayaking, learning about Kosraean history and culture, visiting ancient ruins and on and on. Plus you might enjoy a few water activities like snorkeling and fishing.

What airlines fly to Kosrae?

Continental is the only airline serving Kosrae, 3 flights a week originate in Honolulu (flight 957) and 3 flights a week originate in Guam (Flight 956)..

My ticket says I'm leaving Honolulu on Monday, but I don't arrive on Kosrae until Tuesday - What Happened??

You cross the International Dateline during the flight and a day "goes into storage". You get it back out of "storage" when you return.

Is there malaria on Kosrae?

You don't have to worry about malaria on Kosrae or anywhere in the FSM.

Do people speak English?

Yes, almost everyone speaks English and the local people really love teaching visitors a few Kosraean words too.

What kind of money is used?

The US Dollar is use on Kosrae and throughout Micronesia.

Are power and water available all the time?

Yes, both the power and water are available 24 hours a day. Since this is a small, remote location we are more subject to weather caused outages. A tree might fall on the power lines or if there is very heavy rain the neighborhood water supply might be effected.

Is the power "US style" or "European"?

The power is 110 volts / 60 cycle which is generally considered standard "US" power. The outlets are designed for US style plugs.
