Dive Class Adventures

Last Saturday I went out with my current Open Water class for their final certification dive.

Not only did they complete their skills exceptionally well, they also helped to locate the mooring pin for a missing buoy, and replace the mooring line and buoy.

Here are a few of the things they saw during their dive.

Saddled butterflyfish (C. ephippium)

Anemone fish eggs

Ornate Butterflyfish (Chaetodon ornatissimus)

Two anemone species with commensal shrimp

Incidentally, the project repairing storm damage to the mooring buoy system could not have been done without generous support from Project Aware and the Australian Embassy in Pohnpei.

Cheers,
Katrina

Katrina, Like your website!!! The pics are so clear. Looks like you put your scuba class to good use, repairing the mooring.

      Hi Steve,

Thanks! I think that giving back to the ocean is an essential part of learning to dive and we’re still repairing the damage from the Dec 2008 king tides. So, it’s a natural fit once the new divers have a bit of experience in the water.

      Cheers,
